I don’t know about the rest of you, but for the past few weeks, I’ve been finding myself checking online every few days to see if Blizzard has finally announced a release date for StarCraft II. Now, I have stated in the past that Blizzard is obviously trying to make the best game possible which justifies the lengthy development time the game has been going through. And I really do believe that when StarCraft II launches it will be worth the wait. But as a gamer, I can’t help but have a slight disregard for the waiting period that accompanies all high profile games.
StarCraft II’s official website unfortunately has no information on the game’s release date. The all-knowing Wikipedia has no information. And countless Yahoo and Google searches yield negative results as well. If I can’t get my hands on StarCraft II at this point, I’d at least like to know when the game is coming out, dagnabit! Sorry, sometimes I lose my composure and I start talking like a gamer on the verge of senility.
I think I speak for most gamers and StarCraft fans when I say, “All we want is an estimate.” Give us probable release date, Blizzard. If it changes, we won’t hold it against you. Think of us, your loyal followers, as that gullible spouse that believes everything you say. If the release date gets pushed back, then just feed us a new tentative launch date, and we’ll believe that too. You’ve already got us eating out of the palm of your hand anyway. Worst case scenario: we won’t believe you when the game’s real launch date is announced. But then that just means we’ll be pleasantly surprised when it turns out to be true.
So come on, babe… I mean… Blizzard. Tentative release date? Please?
