Certainly you’ve all heard of that 8-bit StarCraft game. I see some nods in the back. A few of you look a bit confused, though. Well, for those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, first I shall scold you. Why? Because this is actually a bit of old news, and the fact that you don’t know about it yet is saddening. Believe me, you’ll wish you had checked this thing out a long time ago.
Basically, there are some videos on YouTube that show footage of an 8-bit version of the original StarCraft. These videos showcase footage of a game that doesn’t even exist, though. That’s very unfortunate, I know, and very saddening, to be quite honest. I mean, come on, the concept is brilliant!
For those of you who are foaming at the mouth right now, all you have to do is enter ‘8-bit StarCraft’ on YouTube’s search bar, and videos of the game will immediately pop up. It looks impressive to say the least, and it looks like the kind of 8-bit endeavor us StarCraft fanatics could easily spend countless hours on.
As of this writing, there are no plans for the game to ever come to fruition, but we can always dream, can’t we? Besides, certainly if enough fans make themselves heard Blizzard will do something about, right? Here’s hoping. I mean, how cool would it be to take down the evil zerg in 8-bit glory? How awesome would it be to scavenge for resources in a retro-looking game? So many questions! Someone needs to make this happen!
