Hardcover Always Feels More Special

Hardcover Just Feels Epic

Not too long ago I talked about how WildStorm would no longer continue their StarCraft series of comic books.  When I first discovered this it came as a surprise, and I was none too pleased about it.  I’m certain that other StarCraft/comic lovers weren’t very happy about it either.  Well, I wish I could tell you all that this post has news about Blizzard and WildStorm bringing back the publication, but I don’t.  (Insert sad face emoticon here.)

No, DC’s subsidiary will not be bringing back any semblance of the StarCraft comic book, but they are giving fans a little something extra: the collected hardcover edition of StarCraft Volume 1.  Granted this isn’t as awesome as, say, continuing the series and giving the fans Volume 2, but it is something neat for those who, like myself, have yet to read the seven issue series.  And I am a firm believer that hardcover always feels more special.

So while this news isn’t anything in the way of amazing or spectacular, it is something worth noting.  Fans who currently own the original incarnations of StarCraft Volume 1’s awesome comic books won’t see much in the way of new content here, and it’s hard to recommend a purchase to those folks considering they already own the story.  But for those who love hardcover editions of their favorite comic books, for those who have yet to read StarCraft Volume 1, and for those who read it and loved it but don’t own it, this is as good a time as any to pick up the hardcover edition of StarCraft Volume 1.
