I Knew It!

StarCraft 2 The Stuff Of NovelsI feel like a have a keen sense about things sometimes.  I know when I’m about to play a ridiculously tough game.  I can kind of guess when I’m about to start having car trouble.  And I definitely know when most of the cash in my paycheck is going to be spent on household necessities, leaving me with nary a coin to buy something sweet for myself.

This morning as I checked StarCraft II’s official site, I saw a link for a new chapter in William C. Dietz’s Heaven’s Devils.  The link read “Chapter Six”, and I genuinely thought it was an error.  I clicked on the link expecting to be redirected to chapter four of the engaging novel only to discover that there was no error.  Chapter four was not posted on the site, and instead the sixth chapter in this awesome sci-fi novel was posted for StarCraft aficionados to read.

*Sigh*

I guess my suspicions were correct: the entire novel will not be posted on the site after all.  It’s a shame, too, because I really wanted to continue getting enthralled in each of the tale’s gripping chapters.  But at the same time, I can understand why Mr. Dietz probably wouldn’t want his entire work posted on the site.  I mean, that’s not exactly great marketing, is it?  It would definitely be foolhardy to expect people to purchase something when the entire thing can be checked out online, and legally, mind you!

So perhaps Dietz will only be presenting select chapters from Heaven’s Devils for the general public.  That’s fine.  All that will do is whet our appetite even more and make us want to go out and buy the novel.  I’m all for this move, and I cannot wait until the day comes that all the coins I’ve been scraping from underneath my couch cushions and the darkest depths of my car add up.  I like what I’ve read so far, and I’ll continue reviewing any chapters that are posted on the site.  If you’re even the slightest bit interested in Heaven’s Devils, though, you should definitely check out the finished product.  It’s pretty freaking awesome so far, and I have a feeling it will remain that way.
