Looks great – Don’t Eat It

StarCraft 2 Zerg Cake

Zergalicious!

So here’s the thing.

Starcraft II is super-popular – a fact that cannot really be disputed at this point. Not only that, but the game has always inspired a kind of reeking fanaticism missing in almost every other franchise in the history of the computing world.

As a result, people make…things.

Things of praise, things of hilarity. Things that should probably have never gone on a video camera but somehow “ended up on the Internet.”

Seriously, if you’re into Zerg-fetish or Protoss role-play, how about you keep it to yourself?

One of the less disgusting, truly artistic but still sort of creepy real-life forays into the Starcraft universe is cooking. In particular, we want to make mention of, hail the skill that went into its creation, and advise against the eating of the now-famous Zerg cake.

Famous among the legions of Interweb nerdlings like us, but still, that’s a hell of a fan base.

The dedicated confectionery creator of this treat not only went out of his way to duplicate a near-perfect Zerg hive, but also made delicately arranged mineral formations, a Vespene geyser and tiny Zerg Harvesters.

While the frosting appears to be chocolate and the crystals are almost surely hardened sugar, we can’t help but wonder what Creep would taste like and notice just how much the minerals look like the funky blue meth from Breaking Bad.

Sure, we know that the creator says all of the ingredients are harmless, but isn’t that just what we would expect an Infested Terran to say? Hmmmm?

Still, we have to applaud his creativity and initiative in designing and executing something so meticulous, and doing it so well, Zerg pawn or no.

We’re also happy that he’s obviously taken some time away from Starcraft II, giving us an opportunity to steal his spot in the copper league.

Realistically, we’ve played two multiplayer games since SCII was released, so engrossed are we in the campaign. We’ve been taking it slow, talking to everyone we can find and learning from friends just how the choices we didn’t make affect the story of the game.

Seriously – don’t save the colonists – see what happens. Don’t do it.

You do not get a cake for your efforts.
